Sree Sreenivasan

Honorary Lecturer

Sree Sreenivasan is honored to return to HKU's campus and work with the students and faculty of the School of Future Media. He is CEO of Digimentors, a leading social, digital and AI-training company.  He has worked with major nonprofits, UN agencies and corporations on AI strategy, policy and scenario planning.

Sree has served as Chief Digital Officer three times: at Columbia University, working on the future of education; at the Met Museum, working on the future of culture; and at the City of New York, working on the future of cities and citizens. He was named the World’s Most Influential CDO by CDO Club in 2014. He was also a professor and associate dean at Columbia Journalism School for two decades.

He is also co-founder of SAJA, the South Asian Journalists Association and ONA, the Online Journalists Association, and co-host of the annual Nobel Prize Peace Conference in Oslo. In 2004, Newsweek named him one of the 20 most influential young South Asians in America, alongside director M. Knight Shyamalan, singer Norah Jones and a rising politician named Kamala Harris. In 2020, the President of Italy awarded Sree the Knighthood of the Order of the Star of Italy for his role in promoting US-Italian relations (Cavaliere dell'Ordine della Stella d'Italia). He's been named to such lists as 100 Most Creative People in Business (Fast Company); 35 Most Infuential People in Social Media (Poynter) and 100 Most Influential Journalists of Color of the Past Centure (Unity).

He is also an independent journalist, as writer of Sree's Sunday Note newsletter for eight years and co-host of the NYT Readalong podcast for 10. His newsletter is read each week by hundreds of journalists, CEOs, politicians, founders, influencers, nonprofit leaders, academics, along with at least 5 university presidents, five billionaires, and two members of the TIME 100 World’s Most Influential People. He is experimenting with a new kind of healthcare journalism via "My Pre-diabetic Life," using stories, interviews, AI and WhatsApp to help himself and others deal with pre-diabetes and diabetes, which affect Asians disproportionately.
