Sohyun Lee is a Korean documentary filmmaker and production sound recordist. She has been teaching sound and documentary filmmaking at Pusan National University for over ten years. Alongside directing, she works professionally as a production sound recordist for documentary and commercial film productions. She graduated from the Department of Theater and Film at Hanyang University and later specialized in sound at the Korea National University of Arts. She directed her first feature-length documentary, Dear Grandma (2015), which received the Audience Award at the Seoul Independent Film Festival. The project later won both the KB Kookmin Card Award and the Audience Award at the Jeonju International Film Festival Project Market in 2016. It was then released theatrically in Korea and later made available on Netflix. In 2023, she released The Talent Show, a documentary that portrays mothers who lost their children in the Sewol ferry disaster. The film earned her the Okrang Award at the Seoul International Women’s Film Festival in 2020 and the Dandelion Award at the Wildflower Film Awards in 2024.
