Lei Wang

Honorary Professor
Lei Wang is the Dean, Professor, and a Doctoral Supervisor at the School of Animation and Digital Arts, Communication University of China (CUC). A leading figure in digital creativity in China, he also serves as the Principal Investigator (PI) of the Intel-CUC Generative AI Creativity Lab and a Honorable Professor of School of Future Media, Hong Kong University.
As an accomplished animation director and digital artist, Professor Wang’s works have garnered global recognition, winning 58 international awards and screening at 108 festivals across 35 countries—including over 20 Oscar-qualifying events. His credits include critical successes such as Mirage House in the Clouds, Kim and Jim's Wormhole, and the China Government Award-winning Wool Wool Town. Pioneering the fusion of technology and aesthetics, he created immersive exhibitions like Cats of the East and Qin: The First Chinese Dynasty, as well as China’s first AI-generated ink-wash animation, Dragon Gate.
Honored as a NRTA Outstanding Animation Screenwriter and Director, a National Leading Talent in the Audio-Visual Industry and a Beijing Young Teaching Master, his current research sits at the forefront of future media studies, focusing on Generative AI art, spatial narratives in digital environments, and the contemporary remediation of traditional culture.
