Industry Experiences - Global Creative Industries

The BA in Global Creative Industries combines rigorous humanities education with hands-on experience in the creative industries. Hence, Industry Experience courses are a core component of the programme. Industry Experiences include any course with a direct educational encounter with an organization of the creative industries such as internships, field trips, consultancy projects, and immersive experiences. Students will complete two Industry Experience courses in total from year two to year four.

All students are expected to develop thorough theoretical knowledge and practical experience in their chosen pathway. Industry Experiences ensure the core mission of the programme to educate students in theory and practice.

Highlights from Arts Maebashi internship collaboration

In September 2025, GCIN launched an exciting overseas internship collaboration with Arts Maebashi, a vibrant art gallery in Maebashi City, Gunma Prefecture, Japan. This dynamic hybrid onsite/online programme places six talented students at the heart of curating, managing, and promoting a captivating city-wide art exhibition running through December.

Kicking off with an immersive 4-day visit to Maebashi in early September, followed by a focused 1-week trip during October’s Reading Week, participants dive into the real-world thrill of exhibition production. From crafting artworks hands-on to transforming gallery spaces, they gain invaluable insights into Japan’s contemporary art scene—plus exclusive meetings with city leaders, including the Mayor of Maebashi.

Working in creative pairs, students also design eye-catching promotional materials, from sleek websites and posters to engaging social media campaigns, all crafted to draw local enthusiasts and international visitors alike. Join us in celebrating this fusion of global talent and cultural innovation!
