Bachelor of Arts in Global Creative Industries
The BA in Global Creative Industries program explores the interconnected worlds of commerce and culture. We adopt an interdisciplinary approach to examine the fusion of the arts and commerce within cultural industries from a global perspective. Our goal is to encourage students to assess the evolving roles of culture in today's society. This innovative approach examines the interrelated nature of contemporary global creative sectors, offering a thorough understanding of the emergence, development, and prospects of the creative industry.

The programme directly connects to Hong Kong's vibrant creative economy. It is interdisciplinary at the core and takes full advantage of the expertise in HKU's School of Future Media. Our expertise in humanities research and cultural practice has shaped the programme's four pathways:
- Film and Media Communications
- Gaming and Digital Humanities
- Visual Arts, Heritage and Museum Studies
- Music and Performing Arts
Students will examine the political, economic, and social influences on the creative industries worldwide. They will take a variety of courses covering topics such as new media, immersive media, music, film, museums and galleries, the art market, and gaming. All students will participate in several supervised industry experiences, including internships and overseas field trips to Japan, South Korea, Europe, and China. Graduates will be in high demand across various industries, including film, design, tourism, marketing, and customer relations, providing them with opportunities to expand their professional networks and gain global perspectives.

Provision of feedback
We believe that detailed and timely feedback on student assignments is a critical component of an active-learning environment founded on continuous assessment. Therefore, the Journalism and Media Studies Centre requires course instructors to return all student work submitted for assessment, including weekly tutorial assignments, media projects and exams, to the student with written comments as well as a grade. Weekly tutorial assignments should be assessed and returned to students within one week of the submission deadline. Other assessment tasks such as exams or media projects should be returned to students with detailed comments within one month of submission. Feedback on oral presentations or group projects may be delivered orally or in writing.
